Fall Home Tour, Part 2
Hello friends, and thanks for stopping by! Welcome to part 2 of my fall home tour, the dining room edition! If you missed part 1 of the Fall home tour, you can catch that here.
I love those striped curtains! They're actually 98" khaki Ikea drapes that came as a pair for $24! I painted the stripes with leftover white paint, mixed with some medium. Because the paint bled through to the back, I picked up two white twin flat sheets at Goodwill and used my ever-trusty go-to sewing hack...stitch-witchery...to attach them as a curtain lining. They add so much fullness!
The 3 ironstone plates mounted on the wall were found at one of my fave thrift stores for 25 cents each!
Next, we come to our $120 Goodwill-purchased dining room set!! The table and chairs were hideous before a little tlc was applied. That's a whole blog post on its own, so I promise I'll follow through with that soon! (Here's that follow-up I promised!)
Located on the table are more thrift store and antique store purchases. In fact, there are only a few items on our table that were bought new....the little birdies and faux-wood pillar candles (from Pottery Barn Outlet for pennies on the dollar) and the little yellow container from Target (on clearance)! Everything else...the brass candlesticks, the candles, the lace doily, the burlap runner, pinecones and antlers were all from second-hand stores or my backyard.
On my china hutch are some of my favorite little collections....milk glass from yard sales and thrift stores, framed silhouettes, vintage silver, old pitchers, and my anthropologie latte bowls on an antique scale.
To give the back of my china hutch a little color, I used glue dots to mount some cute wrapping paper with vintage stamping on it (from Homegoods) to the wall of the hutch. So fun and super-easy!
These gold-rimmed plates were 25 cents each at one of my favorite thrift stores! And the beautiful old wooden box is from my sweet mother-in-law. I love it!
The vintage silver is from my gracious momma. I love putting old flatware on display.
To the right of the china hutch is a little nook that holds various items at any given time....from a drink bar or dessert bar when guests are over to simply putting my lovely treasures on display.
I purchased this silver-plated tea set for $10 at a local antiques store and then spray-painted it for some pizzazz. ;)
