DIY Moss Chargers for our Woodsy Tablescape

Hey y'all!  This year's Christmas decor has been all about DIY (what's new?!), with a focus on anything woodsy, and I have absolutely loved it!  You can check out our Christmas Home Tour by clicking this link here. ;) Think all things lumberjack, faux fur and cozy.

So, to add to that feeling of "Christmas in the woods," I needed some inexpensive ideas for decorating.  And you know that old saying, "Necessity is the mother of invention!" I had a bag of moss leftover from previous projects (see those projects at the end of this post), and a lightbulb went off....Why not use the leftover moss on some chargers for our tablescape?!  Now, I realize there's nothing new under the sun, so I'm sure this idea has been done before, but I still love how they turned out, and I sure ! ;)

These DIY moss chargers are super-easy to make!  And you can use them throughout every season.  Woop woop!  I have to give a huge thank you to my sweet daughter, who made these chargers for me.  She is a true gem, and I need to add that she did this project all by herself.

Here's what you'll need:

Let's get started!

Sometimes, you can find chargers at the dollar store, but ours didn't have them at the time, so I found these gold chargers at a thrift store for $1 each. ;) So, if you have thrifted chargers, be sure to wash them before starting this project.

While your hot-glue gun is heating up, gently tear apart the moss, so that it doesn't form large "bushes" on your chargers.

Now, hot glue the moss all the way around the edges of each charger.  No need to glue moss on the inside of the charger, because of obvious reasons...the plate will sit beautifully on top and cover up any bare spots. ;)

That's it!  How easy was that?!

As I mentioned earlier, I've included more detailed shots of this tablescape in our Christmas Home Tour, so please click this link to see those pics.

I have really grown to seriously love moss.  It's such a great accessory for a "woodsy" theme, and the best part about it is that I can use it for almost every season!  To show you how much I love moss, here are a few more moss projects that I've done recently:

DIY, Moss Chalkboard

DIY, Moss Stag (Blog post coming soon!)

DIY, Paper-Mache Moss Taxidermy (Blog post coming soon!)

And now, I get to add these DIY moss chargers to my projects' list!  I hope you love them as much I do! ;) You can also use moss as filler, such as in lanterns with a candle, or on a cut log, as in my "hot chocolate bar" blog post.  (See sneak-peak below.  Blog post coming soon!)

Well, I hope you've been inspired to make some moss chargers like the ones you've just seen. ;) These chargers are not only super-easy to make, but they're inexpensive as well!  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at TheRusticBoxwood@gmail.com or comment below.  Also, don't forget to follow along with me on Pinterest, Instagram, TwitterHomeTalk and Facebook.  It always makes my day to hear from my sweet readers!  Y’all are the best!  Have a wonderful day!
